Franklin,
Well done for organising the above event which honoured excellence in application/use of technology in Africa. It is important that civic society in developing countries, especially those in Africa, recognise the power of knowledge and how its sound application could accelerate economic and social development in our world.
Our political leaders' lack of confidence in the capability of our own human resources mean that they hardly invest in the development of centres of excellence in our societies. Whenever we are confronted with challenges, whether economic or environmental in nature, our leaders knee jerk reaction is to look to the West for redemption. This mind set has created over dependence on external sources rather focusing on our intellectual capacity to formulate properly tailored African solutions to uniquely African problems.
Events such as this are useful in raising public awareness of how knowledge properly applied could provide the tool for our societies to rise up to the challenge of eliminating poverty and for building prosperous societies for future generations of Africans.
Well done.
